Dudley Ochiel, a Litigation Counsel at Katiba Institute, was on 8 December 2023 named the Jurist of the year 2023 during ICJ Kenya’s Jurist of the Year Awards held in Nairobi. The Jurist of the Year Award is an annual award that seeks to give recognition, acknowledgment and encouragement to jurists who have consistently, fearlessly and impartially promoted the rule of law and human rights in Kenya during the year. 

Ochiel was recognised for making tremendous efforts in the advancement of constitutionalism, the respect for the rule of law, the promotion of good governance and respect and protection of human rights through innovative thinking, boldness, courage in pushing the boundaries of the law through strategic and public interest litigation on diverse an important public policy and interest matters nationally and in the region.

Dudley acknowledged the Katiba Institute team for the support and thanked ICJ Kenya for the recognition.
