Katiba Institute welcomes Nora Mbagathi as the New Executive Director
Katiba Institute’s (KI) Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Nora Mbagathi as the organisation’s Executive Director. Nora will lead KI’s efforts in developing a culture of constitutionalism in Kenya and the region.
Nora has a background in human rights and technology, with a particular focus on non-discrimination and equality. She has worked in human rights advocacy and strategic litigation for over ten years. Prior to joining Katiba Institute, Nora was a senior lawyer with the Open Society Justice Initiative and before that, a caseworker with the London-based charity, Reprieve. She holds a JD from the George Washington University Law School, an M.Sc. in Global Politics from the London School of Economics, and a B.A. in Middle Eastern Studies from the American University in Cairo.
“We are very pleased that Nora has taken up this leadership role”, said Jill Cottrell Ghai, Katiba Institute’s Board Chair. “Her strong leadership skills, warm personality and previous experience in strategic litigation at an international level will, with the strong support of the very able team at Katiba Institute, propel the Institution to greater heights.”
“It is an honour to have been invited to work for this standard-setting organisation at such a crucial moment in time for constitutionalism and fundamental rights in Kenya. I look forward to facilitating and supporting the team’s work to protect and defend the constitution.” said Nora on her appointment as Executive Director.
We welcome Nora to Katiba Institute.
